LAHORE, Aug 9: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has ordered implementation of the recommendations by the CMIT regarding the substandard and defective sewerage pipelines laid in Liaquatpur, Rahim Yar Khan district.
The matter was brought to the notice of the chief minister by the residents of Liaquatpur. As a result, he ordered the CMIT to inquire the matter and submit a report.
The CMIT reported that the allegation was true and recommended that the scheme should be revised with the same funds. The scheme should be improved and linked to the other sewerage system before making further payments to the contractor.
It also recommended that the work on the scheme be started without any delay and the contractor should be asked to complete the project in accordance with the contract. It pointed out that officers concerned did not undertake inspection of schemes due to which technical defects occur. Therefore, they should be made to monitor the schemes on a fortnightly basis. —Staff Reporter
