Pakistanis urged to project true image

TOKYO, Aug 9: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has urged overseas Pakistanis to work hard to promote the country’s positive image. Addressing a gathering of Pakistani community here on Tuesday, Mr Aziz said Pakistanis in Japan were free of the ills of extremism and bias and added that the entire community needed to work hard to rid their country of such trends.

He said Pakistan required the expertise and experience of its overseas community and asked them to invest in any of the diverse sectors in their own country.

Mr Aziz said Pakistan condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and had been playing a vital role in the war on terror.

The prime minister said: “Pakistan is a peace loving country and believes in peaceful co-existence with all its neighbours.”

Under the leadership of President Gen Pervez Musharraf, he said, the country had initiated a series of confidence building measures with India, but “sustainable peace would be an unfulfilled dream” unless the issue of Kashmir was resolved.—APP
