THATTA, Aug 8: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said he will not bargain on interests of the province, including the issues of water and NFC award. He was speaking at an open kutchehry in the Daro town here on Monday.
About the local body elections, the chief minister said people should vote for candidates of the Khushal panel because they were sincere and would work for development of their areas.
He maintained that he would not announce any new development schemes for the area today as his political opponents would term it a tool to win votes for his party-supported candidates.
He, however, directed authorities concerned to immediately release additional funds to get ongoing road schemes completed in time.
Dr Rahim said that after the elections, the local body system would be reactivated and new nazims would be provided with ample funds to provide every facility, including drainage system, roads etc, in the Daro town.
He claimed that those violating the election code of conduct would be taken to task irrespective of their political clout.
Referring to complaints of water shortage and hardships being faced by tail-end growers, the chief minister said he had asked the secretary for irrigation to improve the system.
About the anti-polio drive, he said he had directed the health department to ensure polio was eradicated in the province.
Shafqat Hussain Shah Shirazi and Arbab Ramizuddin also spoke on the occasion.
