Akram Durrani’s bail extended

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday extended pre-arrest interim bail of opposition parties’ Rehbar Committee convener and JUI-F leader Akram Khan Durrani in three ongoing inquiries as National Accountability Bureau (NAB) sought time to file reply in the cases.

The IHC division bench comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the petition.

Durrani appeared before the IHC bench.

The court on the request of NAB that it needed time to file written reply in this case put off the hearing until a fortnight. Subsequently, the pre-arrest interim bail of Durrani also extended till Nov 21.

After attending the brief court’s proceeding Durrani talked to media persons.

Regarding a question related to the coordination with the major political parties with regard to future of ongoing Azadi march, Durrani said the JUI-F was in contact with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PML-N leadership including Shahbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz. He assured that the nation would be taken into confidence on the future course of action.

NAB is investigating Durrani in connection with alleged corruption in two housing projects of the Federal Government Housing Foundation, appointment of blue-eyed officer in the Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation, allotment of ‘out of turn’ plots for mosques and inductions in the Public Works Department.
