ISLAMABAD, Aug 8: The development working party of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved a grant of over Rs2 billion for several projects in the federal capital.

According to sources, Rs30.941 million will be spent on the improvement of Daman-i-Koh picnic spot and implementation of traffic safety plan from Daman-i-Koh to Pir Sohawa.

A grant of Rs23.422 million has been allocated in the first phase for the refurbishment of CDA building, while Rs250.675 million would be spent on dualization of service road from G-9 to G-11. Similarly, Rs54.232 million and Rs236.708 million would be spent to dualize service roads of sectors G-8 and G-10, respectively.

According to the civic body sources, a Rs4.252 million project is in the pipeline under which roads in F-6, F-7 and F-8 Nazimuddin Road will be dualized.

An amount of Rs189.959 million has been set aside for construction of the third lane of Quaid Avenue from Zero Point to Faisal Mosque. Similarly, Rs112.555 million has been earmarked for developing a picnic spot near Rawal Dam on Murree Road and Rs7.415 million on the upgradation of Marghazar Zoo.

Rs7.470 million will be spent on construction of playgrounds, kids playing areas and installation of traffic signals.

Other major development projects include upgradation of weekly bazaars, carpeting of roads in different sectors, supply of gas to Alipur Farash and sewerage treatment plants for which an estimated amount of Rs1,368.506 million will be spent.—Agencies
