KARACHI, Aug 8: Former city nazim Niamatullah Khan on Monday termed the agreement for preparation of Master Plan a significant milestone. He expressed the hope that caretaker city district government and the Master Plan Department would ensure early completion of proposed master plan by fully co-operating with the consultant company.
The former nazim claimed that in addition to the development of ruined infrastructure and provision of basic amenities to citizens, he had kept the comprehensive master plan among his top priorities.
However, frequent transfers and postings of city government officials and “unjustified” interference of provincial government in the city government affairs had affected the pace of preparation of master plan project, he added.
Niamtullah Khan said despite such impediments pre-qualification had been invited for devising master plan for the city during his tenure in 2003 and offers had been invited from the companies selected as a result of pre-qualification. He also lauded the efforts of EDO Master Plan Atiq Baig and former EDO Works & Services Shoaib Siddiqui in this regard. —PPI
