HYDERABAD, Oct 14: The Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami, Hyderabad, Shaikh Shaukat Ali, said that due to the fast-changing global situation, the role of the Jamaat-i-Islami had become very important in this scenario.

He was addressing a meeting of the local Shoora of the party on Saturday evening.

He said that the American and British attack on Afghanistan was not only an attack on the Muslims of Afghanistan but also an attack on the ideology, culture, and way of life of the Muslim Ummah.

He stressed the need for launching a massive contact campaign to provide leadership and guidance to the people.

The meeting also reviewed the organizational matter of the party. M Hanif Shaikh and Shaikh Maqbool Ahmed were unanimously appointed as the general secretary and Naib Ameer of the party, Hyderabad.

It was also decided by the Shoora to change the leadership in other departments also.

Meanwhile, the leader of the women wing of the party, Ms Shahnaz Baqai said that the killing of women and children in Afghanistan was a slap on the face of humanity.

She was addressing the party workers of the women wing on Saturday.

She urged the Muslim world, specially the Pakistani nation, to raise their voice against these inhuman atrocities.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Rukhsana Tanveer, regretted that while the killing of innocent children was shown on Al-Jazeera and CNN, the official electronic media of Pakistan had totally blacked out the news.

She said that this was clear proof of the fact that the Pakistani rulers instead of supporting Muslims were supporting the enemies of Islam.

The meeting announced to hold a protest meeting at Markaz-i-Tableegh-i-Islam and a demonstration outside the Hyderabad Radio Station and press club on Oct 20.

JUI: The secretary general, JUI (F), Sindh, Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro, said the Jewish lobby was directly involved in the attacks on the World Trade Centre, and added that on the pretext of attacking Afghanistan, the US wanted to establish a permanent basis in Pakistan.

He was addressing the Ishq-i-Rasool (PBUH) Conference at Qasimabad on Saturday night.

He said that the rulers, by supporting the US, were playing with the sentiments of 140 million Muslims of Pakistan. He urged the rulers to give up the policy of supporting the US and side with Afghanistan.

He accused the US of committing international terrorism by launching an attack against the Taliban government, and added that the entire Pakistani nation was “with Osama bin Laden, the Taliban government,” and the people Afghanistan.

Dr Soomro said that the war in Afghanistan was, in fact, a war between the oppressor and oppressed.

He claimed the oppressed will most certainly win this war between good and evil.

He said the US had already started entering Pakistan and it will be extremely difficult to throw them out.

He said the US had hatched a conspiracy to take over “the control of Iran, Iraq, and China” by making Pakistan their permanent base.

Dr Soomro said that now the entire Muslim Ummah had united on one platform, and added that the war would continue till the disintegration of the US.
