LAHORE, Aug 6: Wapda workers throughout the country will observe a protest day on Monday (tomorrow) to express resentment against anti-labour policies of the government.

The workers will organize rallies and meetings in all big cities of the country to protest against the failure of the government to ensure the availability of essential commodities at reasonable prices and withdrawal of interim relief of Rs400 from Aug 1. They will also condemn the government’s privatization policy resulting in large scale unemployment and increase in utility services charges.

A protest day meeting here will be held in front of the Bakhtiar Labour Hall on Nisbet Road and addressed by Pakistan Wapda Hydro-Eelectric Central Labour Union leaders. The workers will later take out a procession and stage a demonstration at the Laxami Chowk.
