PkMAP backs JUI-F march, seeks MPC

QUETTA: Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai has announced his party’s support for the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl’s long march and asked the JUI-F chief to convene a multiparty conference to evolve a joint strategy for launching the anti-government movement.

Speaking at a public meeting held in Pishin’s Taj Lala Football Stadium to observe the anniversary of the October 1983 martyrs, Mr Achakzai said that his party had supported all democratic movements that had been launched for the rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution. He said the PkMAP would support any march that would be launched for the supremacy of the Constitution and democratic rule in the country.

However, he said: “We should prevent the country from martial law and the rule of undemocratic forces instead of replacing Imran Khan.”

He was of the opinion that no change would come with Mr Khan’s ousting until supremacy of Constitution, parliament, and democratic rule was not ensured and interference of forces and political role of other institution was not abolished.

Mr Achakzai said before launching his protest movement, Maulana Fazlur Rehman should convene a ‘multi-party conference’ and evolve a joint strategy with consultation of all opposition parties to bring the country out of crises.

“All forces in the country should think of the future of Pakistan because weak parliament and constitution push the country at the brink of destruction hence time has come that we let the country run under the supremacy of Constitution,” the PkMAP chairman said.

He announced his party would launch a campaign for upholding of the Constitution and rule of law in Pakistan. He said: “We don’t want to harm Pakistan but our jihad for the supremacy of democracy and parliament will continue.”

Nawab Ayaz Khan Jogezai, Dr. Kaleemullah, Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, ex-senator Rauf Lala, Sardar Mustafa Tareen and others also spoke on the occasion.
