Boat sinks near Sann: two dead

DADU, Aug 2: Two villagers drowned in the Indus River near Sann on Tuesday. Reports said that seven people of a family were on their way to Sann from Manjhand on a boat. When their boat reached near Sann, it overturned and all of them fell in the water.

Fishermen rescued five of them while two of Them — Imam Bux Tagyani and Mohammad Paryal Tagyani — drowned.

Body of Imam Bux was fished out after hectic efforts of four hours, while fishermen were searching the body of Paryal.

The Indus was developing pressure at different points of Larkana-Sehwan Bund near Dadu town, Moundar, Shah Panjo and Sehwan as 50 villages were inundated in the kutcha area of Dadu and Jamshoro districts.

GROWERS: A number of growers of Piaro Goth staged a demonstration on the Indus Highway near Dadu town on Tuesday to protest against water shortage in Piaro Goth waterway.

DEMO: Hundreds of fishermen of MNV drain, Dadu taluka and Johi staged a demonstration here on Tuesday to protest against Sardar Chakar Khan Shahani for occupying their water contract of fishing at MNV drain.

They were led by Asghar Mallah and Mohammad Ayub Mallah.

Fishermen said that they had been allotted contract of MNV drain for Rs500,000 by the fisheries department, but armed men of Chakar Khan Shahani had occupied all water of MNV drain and they were not allowing fishermen to shift fish catch.

PPP LEADERS: PPP leaders MNA Rafiq Ahmed Jamali, Qambar Khan Leghari and Dost Ali Jessar, addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, refuted the allegation of kidnapping of DIP candidate, Nisar Ahmed Qambrani and stopping the caravan of PML leaders and DIP candidates.

Earlier, Karim Bux Jatoi, son of federal minister for water and power, had claimed that a caravan of Dadu Ittehad Panel (DIP) and PML candidates was stopped by armed men of PPP MNA Raees Rafiq Ahmed Jamali near Piaro Goth, when they were coming to local court for filing objections against Awam Dost Panel (ADP) candidates.
