ISLAMABAD, Jan 14: An advance party of the US security force on Monday held a meeting with the deputy commissioner, Islamabad, Tariq Mehmood Khan, to review a security plan for the forthcoming visit of US Secretary of State Colin Powell to Pakistan, a source told Dawn.

The source said the advance party of the US security force had suggested special measures for the security of Mr Powell.

It was decided in the meeting that security would be beefed up on the routes of Mr Powell’s convoy. Police commandos would also be deployed at rooftops of several buildings.

The assistance of reserve army would also be taken for the security of Mr Powell and the troops would be deployed at all sensitive places in Islamabad, the source said.
