RAWALPINDI: A suspected robber was allegedly shot and killed by his accomplice during a robbery at a mobile phone shop in Naseerabad, while a petrol station staffer was shot and injured by two unidentified robbers in Kahuta on Tuesday.

Four unidentified individuals robbed a mobile phone shop and held its owner, Ajmal Khan, at gunpoint. A physical altercation began between the shop owner and the robbers, leading one of the robbers to try and shoot the owner.

However, the robber shot one of the other robbers and then three of the four robbers left the shop with Rs55,000 and 13 mobile phones. The fourth alleged robber died at the scene.

The police claimed the whole group has been identified and those who fled would be captured soon.

Two unidentified robbers in Kahuta robbed a petrol station and held its cashier, Asad Mehmood, at gunpoint.

Mr Mehmood was shot and injured when he tried to resist the robbers, who stole Rs200,000 and escaped.

Separately, a police constable was shot and injured by unidentified people in a car after they were signalled to stop at a police checkpoint in Pirwadhai Monday night.

Police said Constable Babar Ali was on duty at the checkpoint and signalled a suspicious car to stop. Instead of stopping, the passengers inside opened fire and injured him.

Mr Ali was taken to a hospital, where he was stated to be in stable condition. The police were unable to trace those responsible, as the car passengers left the vehicle and fled on foot.
