Two die, one missing during Eid holidays

ISLAMABAD: Two persons were killed while one is still missing in separate incidents in the capital during Eid holidays, police said.

In the first incident, a boy was swept away in a nullah at Shahdara picnic point.

According to the police, the victim, identified as Mohammad Fayaz, came to the picnic point with his friends and went to the nullah for swimming, He lost his balance and started drowning in the water.

His friends raised the alarm but before any help could arrive, the boy was swept away.

After getting information, the police and rescue departments reached the spot, but they have still not been able to retrieve the boy.

In another incident, a man was killed and another injured in a road accident in Sihala, the police said.

Naveed Shah and Ahmad Raza were traveling on a motorcycle when a car hit them at Ghora Shah Khan. The injured were shifted to the hospital where Naveed Shah died.Similarly, a motorcyclist was killed in a road accident in Shams Colony.

The victim was identified as Mohammad Riaz.

He was travelling on his motorcycle when a trailer hit him from behind on I.J. Principal Road.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.Meanwhile, robbers and burglars looted cash and valuables from six different places during the holidays, police said.

Some burglars broke into the house of Mohammad Hanif Khan in I-8/1 and made off with cash and valuables. When the residents returned, they found the house ransacked. On checking, they found cash and gold ornaments worth Rs900,000 stolen.

In another incident, robbers snatched cash and valuables from a man at Zia Masjid, the police said. Four people intercepted Shakil Ahmed when he reached the mosque and snatched cash and mobile phones worth Rs80,000 from him and escaped.

Meanwhile, some auto-thieves lifted a Mehran car from G-9/2, a Honda 125 from Lohi Dandi and another motorcycle was stolen from Blue Area.

Furthermore, some thieves took valuables worth Rs145,000 from a man at Faisal Mosque.
