Two excise officials caught with eight kilos of heroin, 800-gram cocaine
KARACHI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Saturday claimed to have arrested three men, including two officials of the Sindh excise department, and recovered eight kilograms of heroin and around one kilogramme cocaine from them.
Acting on a tip-off, the ANF intercepted a car near Do Talwar in Clifton, arrested Gul Sher and recovered two-kg heroin and 800-grams cocaine from his possession.
“The held suspect Gul Sher is an inspector of the excise department of Sindh,” said an ANF spokesperson.
Gul Sher along with his other accomplices was involved in sale and smuggling of drugs, he added.
On a lead given by the held suspect, the ANF intercepted another car in Malir and arrested two suspects, identified as Kashif and Samad.
The ANF recovered four-kg heroin, two MP-5 rifles and one sub-machine gun along with magazines from their vehicle.
The spokesperson said that held suspect Kashif was a constable in the excise police. “He is involved in selling drugs by taking advantage of his official position.”
A raid was also carried out in Gulistan-i-Jauhar to arrest their accomplice, Rehman Gul alias Jan Mohammed. However, the suspect abandoned two packets containing two-kg of heroin and managed to escape when the ANF reached his doorstep.
Efforts were under way to arrest him, the spokesperson added.
Crystal meth, hashish seized
The Mochko police on Saturday claimed to have recovered a huge quantity of crystal meth, also known as ice, and other drugs on the outskirts of the city.
Acting on a tip-off that drugs were being smuggled into Karachi from Balochistan, the police after a long off-road chase intercepted a car at Rais Goth early on Saturday morning and recovered one-kg crystal meth, one-kg heroin and four-kg charas.
