No business in NA for lack of quorum

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly failed to take up the scheduled 16-point agenda on Friday due to a lack of quorum.

Meanwhile, the no-confidence move of the opposition and unexpected win of Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani was being discussed in closed-door meetings and the corridors of parliament. A list of 14 senators belonging to opposition parties was doing the rounds on social media, who were said to have voted in favour of the government’s candidate (Mr Sanjrani).

Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri, who was presiding the session of the National Assembly, ordered a half-hour break due to the low attendance. However, when the session resumed at noon, only 66 members were present compelling the deputy speaker to adjourn the house till Monday evening.
