SUKKUR, July 26: The level of the Guddu Barrage declined by 45,000 cusecs over the past 36 hours. On Tuesday evening, water flow at upstream Guddu Barrage was 503,655 cusecs and 470,618 cusecs at downstream, at Sukkur Barrage upstream, water flow was 508,937 cusecs and 447,407 cusecs at downstream and the flow at Kotri Barrage upstream was 214,093 cusecs and 175,000 cusecs at downstream.
Sukkur Barrage chief engineer Nawaz Memon said embankments of canals of the barrage were being monitored round-the-clock. He said the crisis period had almost passed and was confident that no untoward incident would occur in the coming weeks as the Indus water flow would gradually decrease.
Some 40 villages in the command area of Guddu and Sukkur barrages are also endangered.
