PESHAWAR, July 25: The provincial government has notified terms and conditions of the service of the advocate-general. It is learnt that the provincial law secretary, with the approval of Governor Khalilur Rehman, notified the NWFP Advocate-General (Terms and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2005, four days ago.
According to Rule 4, the advocate-general will receive a salary of Rs15,000 per month. For all work before the Supreme Court, he will receive Rs3,500 a day. Under the same rule, he will get Rs300 per case appearance for all criminal case work before the high court, and Rs500 for an appearance for all civil work before the high court.
For a writ petition before a single bench, he will get Rs300 per appearance and before a full bench Rs500 per case per appearance. No fee shall be allowed to the advocate-general for opinion work of government or for attending any proceeding of the provincial assembly.
For the purpose of official residence, the advocate-general will be considered as an officer in BPS-20 provided that where official accommodation is not available, the advocate-general will be entitled to house rent allowance at the rate of Rs25,000 per month.
Under Rule 7, there will be no limit for using telephone for official use by the advocate-general, however, a facility of 2,500 local calls per month is permissible for residential use free of charge.
He will also be entitled to medical facilities as permissible for the judge of high court or a provincial minister. He will also be entitled to travelling allowance as rules.
