Hassanabdal cadet college students grab top positions in SSC exams

RAWALPINDI: Five students of Cadet College Hassanabdal clinched the three top positions in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) annual examination 2019.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi announced the names of the position holders on Sunday. However, the overall results will be announced on Monday at the Divisional Public School, Shamsabad.

The overall pass percentage remained 76.64. A total of 120,211 candidates appeared in the examination – 64,890 boys and 55,321 girls. Regular candidates were 92,518.

The passing percentage for girls remained 83.32 and that for boys 70.76. Most of the toppers belonged to Rawalpindi, Chakwal and Jhelum districts.

Private schools’ students performed better compared to government schools. However, government schools located in small towns showed good results.

According to the board, Waqas Ahmad (roll number 904996) of Cadet College Hassanabdal bagged the overall first position by scoring 1,089 marks while Abdullah Zafar (roll number 904934) and Shayan Ahmad (roll number 904973) from the same institution clinched the second position by obtaining 1,086 marks.

Khushal Khan (roll number 904962) and Haq Nawaz Khan (roll number 904994) got the third position with 1,083 marks. These students belonged to the science group.

In the general science group for girls, Fatima Abbasi (roll number 931575) of Siddeeq Public School, 6th Road, Satellite Town, and Eisha Batool (roll number 910597) of District Public School for Girls, Chakwal, got first position with 1,079 marks each and Muqaddas Siddeeq (roll number 924759) of Fauji Foundation Model Secondary School for Girls, Gujar Khan, secured second position by scoring 1,075 marks. Areeba Sardar (roll number 909273) of Munir Public Girls High School, Chakwal, and Arooba Nisar (roll number 910585) Khalid Memorial Secondary School for Girls, Chak Bhoun, Chakwal, got the third position with 1,075 marks each.

In the arts group for girls, Esha Tariq (roll number 933000) of Grammar Public High School for Girls, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi, stood first with 1,009 marks whereas Alishba Habib (roll number 141346) of Govt Girsl High School, Saeela, Jhelum, was declared second with 1,006 marks. The third position was bagged by Eman Riffat (roll number 141370) of Govt Girls High School, Saeela, Jhelum, with 1,001 marks.

In the arts group (boys), Waseem Akram (roll number 110056) of Hattar got first position with 966 marks and Hafiz Mohammad Najamul Karam Ahmed (roll number 136016) of Darul Uloom Mohammadya Ghousia Jamal-i-Karam Baragowah, Sohawa, Jhelum, bagged second with 955 marks. Mohammad Zakria (roll number 139095) from Kaluwal, Bhirta tehsil, Dina, Jhelum, was declared third with 953 marks.
