MITHI: It rained again heavily in the hilly town of Nagarparkar and its adjacent areas late on Tuesday night, causing rivulets to flow to fill up dams recently built by government for storing rainwater. Local Met office recorded the rain at around 30mm.

The area people told this reporter that 12-year-old Matu Kolhi was killed by lightning in Panyari village and three camels were struck dead by thunderbolt in Babasaro area.

They said that recent bountiful spells of rains — twice within less than 10 days — were not enough to revive hopes of farmers in the hilly region and they were still hoping the rain would continue at the same pace soak the soil sufficiently to enable it to grow crops.

They said the heavy rain had, however, provided them great respite from severe heat and water crisis.
