Student killed for resisting sexual assault

BATTAGRAM: A 10th grade student was allegedly killed by two other boys after he resisted a sexual assault by them here the other day.

Police claimed to have arrested the two suspects who pushed the student into a ravine. DSP Fida Mohammad told a press conference that the deceased Atif, 16, was an orphan belonging to Dheri Batamori area of Battagram district. He said that the incident took place in the limits of Shamlai police station.

He said that during initial inquiry it was revealed that Farmanullah, 18, and another boy, 17, (name withheld), both residents of Sanda Sarey Batamori, had taken Atif to Nendhyar River for bathing.

He said that both took the boy to a nearby jungle where they tried to sexually assault him to which he resisted. On this, the two suspects allegedly pushed him into a deep ravine on the riverbank, he said.

The boy was seriously injured and died on his way to hospital.

Amir told this scribe that he received a phone call at around 8:00pm that his brother was found in injured condition on the bank of Nendhyar River.

He said that when they reached the spot his brother was lying unconscious, but he was alive. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Amir demanded speedy and easy justice as he was also a student and their father had already died.
