MUZAFFARGARH: Six people were booked for being involved in water theft in the Kot Addu area on Monday.

The action was taken by a team, led by Kot Addu Assistant Commissioner Jam Aftab, formed by Deputy Commissioner Dr Ehtesham Anwar sometime back.

Mr Aftab said he had received complaints from the farmers at the tail-end who faced shortage of Muzaffargarh canal water.

On Monday, he, along with EXEN Head Taunsa Barrage Mehr Riaz Akhtar, visited many places where they found some land owners stealing canal water.

Dera Ghazi Khan Chief Engineer Irrigation Rashid Mansoor said his teams were busy in Rajanpur and Muzaffargarh districts to ensure reach of the canal water till the tail-end.

He said if any irrigation officials would be found involved in the water theft cases, he would take stern action against them.

In open court of the deputy commissioner, some farmers complained about water theft where special teams were made.
