GUJRANWALA, July 21: Around 98 more vacancies of medical officers and specialists for the DHQ Hospital have been approved by the Punjab government. According to a notification issued here on Thursday, these doctors would be recruited on contract basis while a selection board headed by DCO Khalid Masood Chaudhry had been constituted for interviews. While EDO (health) Dr Zafar Iqbal Niazi and DHQ Hospital MS Dr Nisar Ahmad Cheema will be members of the board.
Interviews would be conducted on Aug 3 and 4 at the district officer office.
It was stated that an eye specialist, an orthopaedic, a surgeon, a pathologist, a radiologist, a cardiologist and a consultant besides medical officers, including women, were included in the list.
The government had already given an approval for filling 500 vacancies of doctors and paramedical staff at the DHQ Hospital after its upgradation some one month ago.
ESCAPE: Four armed highwaymen, who deprived a man of his car, escaped after an encounter with the Motorway police here on Thursday.
Armed outlaws snatched the car (IDF-8860) from Zulfikar Ali near Qazi Chak on GT Road. They drove away with the vehicle towards Rawalpindi Bypass intersection where Motorway police had already set up a picket after receiving information. Seeing police, the outlaws turned the vehicle and tried to flee. They also opened fire on police when they were given a chase. They managed to escape when their car struck with a divider. Later, the police recovered the car and illicit arms from it.
A case has been registered.
RECOVERED: A bailiff raided the Aroop police station and recovered a woman and her son from the lock-up and produced them before court here on Thursday.
Reports said that police picked up Ruqqaya Bibi and her son Munir from their house and detained them without registering a case against them. The heirs moved the court while the district and sessions judge deputed the bailiff to recover detainees.
The judge summoned the SHO concerned and the investigation officer on the next hearing date on Friday.
