CHARSADDA: Two students of the University of Peshawar drowned in Sardaryab River here on Sunday.

According to police, Muneeb Khan and his friend, Faheem-ur-Rehman had come for picnic at Sardaryab, but as they were taking a dip in the river, the gushing waters swept them away.

According to Mir Alam, district emergency officer Rescue 1122, the body of Faheem had been fished out during rescue operation and shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Charsadda. However, he said search for recovery of Muneeb’s body was underway.

Meanwhile, a rickshaw hit a motorcycle, injuring three persons in Ishara Korona area of Battgram.

The injured Bilawal, Israr, and Ahmed riding the bike, were shifted to hospital, but Bilawal succumbed to injuries.

An unknown bike rider hit a pedestrian, killing him on the spot in Khairabad area. The deceased was named Ahmed. The bike rider managed to escape.

The Battgram and Shabqadar police stations lodged separate cases and started investigations.

A van collided with a motorcycle, killing one person identified as Nizar Khan and injuring Nasir Khan of Saddar Garhi, Shabqadar.

Meanwhile, a youth committed suicide in Sarekh area on Sunday.

Also, a 60-year-old man was electrocuted on Sunday. The deceased was named Ismail. He was cutting animal fodder in fields when he touched an electricity pylon.
