KARACHI, July 17: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has condemned, what it called, the duplicitous policy of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) by pointing out that on the one side the MQM talks about provincial autonomy while on the other it was opposing the Hasba bill which was adopted by a large majority of the elected representatives of the NWFP Assembly for the elimination of corruption and providing prompt and accessible justice to common man in the province.
The MMA members of Sindh Assembly, in a statement, termed the MQM policy an attempt to appease its foreign masters. They said that by opposing the Islamic bill the MQM, which has so far failed to get the Sindh Assembly pass a resolution against the quota system, was strengthening the establishment and the military rulers.
The MQM instead of opposing, should point out the objectionable points and inform people that how the Hasba bill would exploit the rights of women and citizens.
They said that the MMA members had neither forgotten their people after getting elected like the MQM nor backed on its promises nor the MMA members had indulged in getting a resolution passed by the assembly to get their salaries and privileges increased, but its ministers and advisers had reduced their salaries and had provided relief to the people and honoured its commitment with them and one of the promise made to them was to eliminate corruption and make inexpensive justice accessible to people and by adopting the Hasba bill they had fulfilled their promise.
They said the bill was in accordance to the constitution, Quran and Sunnah and aspirations of the people, and its opponents could not hoodwink people as the people of the country had already rejected those who were against the Islamic identity of the country.
