GUJRANWALA, July 15: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Gujranwala, on Friday announced the results of matric annual examinations, 2005. According to controller (examinations) Dr Mumtaz Ahmad Awan, around 154,856 candidates appeared in the examination out of whom 76,156 were declared successful showing a pass percentage of 49.18. The overall first three positions were grabbed by girls of the science group.
Aisha Abdul Sattar, a private candidate of Narowal district, with (Roll No 256568) secured the first position by getting 786 marks. While Hina Arshed Chattha (183928) of Quaid-i-Azam Divisional Public School, Gujranwala, and Sidra Ghaffar (183653) bagged second and third positions by obtaining 780 and 779 marks, respectively.
SCIENCE GROUP (Boys): Muhammad Ali (192124) of the Municipal Model High School, Gujrat, and Muhammad Awais Rauf (207400) of the Government GD Islamia Higher Secondary School, Mangri, Narowal, shared the first position by securing 775 marks. While Waqas Ahmad (211612) of the Government High School, Daska, and Muhammad Umar (200249) of the Government High School No 1, Kamoki, got second and third positions by capturing 774 and 773 marks, respectively.
ARTS (Boys):< Mubasher Ali (244030) of the Government High School No 2, Kamoki, clinched the first position with 732 marks, Muhammad Saqib Mushtaq (242064) of the Government High School, Chak Kamala, Gujrat, bagged the second slot with 701 marks and Sabir Hussain (244019) of the Government High School No 2, Kamoki, got the third slot with 682 marks.
ARTS (Girls): Nazira Sharif (223616) of the Government Girls High School, Ladheywala Warraich, captured the first position by obtaining 734 marks, Sumaira Rani (227370) of the Government Girls High School, Mubarik Colony, Gujranwala, secured the second position with 731 marks and Sonia Ghulam Muhammad (237585) of the Government Girls High School, Kotli Behram, Sialkot, got the third position with 720 marks.
MIAN IMRAN: Education Minister Mian Imran Masood urged the students to get education in science and computer technology to compete at international level. He was speaking at the prize distribution ceremony for the position holders in the matriculation examinations on Friday.
He said the government was taking solid steps for the promotion of education. It would recruit 24,000 teachers under the chief minister’s education reforms programme. It would provide Rs150 million to every district for improvement of educational institutions, he added.
He claimed that the government had provided free books to nine million students of primary and middle schools this year. A Rs200 per month stipend was being given to those girl students who had 80 per cent attendance in an academic session.
He appreciated the BISE employees efforts for preparing the result and announced Rs1,000 per employee cash prize.
Later, Mian Imran gave away awards to position holders. BISE chairman Col Masoodul Haq (retired) and secretary Chaudhry Mohammad Anwar also attended the function. — Corespondent
