QUETTA, July 15: The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F), two main components of the MMA , have announced two different panels to contest the local bodies’ polls in Quetta. Zahid Hussain, district Nazim of the Jammat-i-Islami, told newsmen at a press conference here on Friday that the Jamaat had formed the Al-Khidmat panel to win the confidence of voters in the elections and to solve the problems of the people.

He said the people in the city lacked civic facilities. The roads were in poor condition, the sewerage system was not operative and there was no place to throw garbage, he explained.

Asked why the Jammat-i-Islami and JUI-F were not contesting jointly, Zahid Hussain said negotiations were under way and if talks succeeded, candidates would be nominated from a joint panel.

On the other hand Maulana Noor Muhammad, provincial JUI vice-amir has formed the Mazloom panel and asked the voters in the city to back his candidates for the resolution of the problems of Quetta.

Speaking at a party executive committee meeting in Kuchlak, MNA Maulana Noor Muhammad urged the people to elect candidates having spirit to serve the masses and expressed.

He claimed that the MMA always fulfilled the commitment made with people and referred to the passage of the Hasba bill. Despite pressures from different quarters, the MMA leadership had adopted the bill through democratic way, he added.
