RAWALPINDI, July 11: The son of a former judge and two officers of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) allegedly beat a passenger at the arrival lounge of Islamabad International Airport late Sunday night, police sources told Dawn on Monday. Police have registered a ‘report’ in the roznamcha and not an FIR against the accused. Muhammad Rafiq and his family arrived from Saudi Arabia by PK-370 and got into the passenger’s bus.

A senior police official, who requested anonymity, said the son of the former judge, Mubeenul Haq, asked Muhammad Rafiq to vacate the bus seat. When he refused to do this, Mr Mubeen allegedly beat him.

Later at the domestic arrival lounge, two flight lieutenants of PAF allegedly joined Mubeenul Haq and started beating Muhammad Rafiq. The PAF officers denied any involvement in the incident saying that they were just intervening between the two. But the victim refuted their claim and said they had also thrashed him.

“Rafiq was taken to the Rawalpindi General Hospital, as he was bleeding in nose and mouth and one of his fingers also got fractured,” the officer said.
