BANGKOK: Pakistani contestants pose after their impressive show at the Asian Indoor Rowing Championships on Sunday.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani rowers displayed superb performance at the 16th Asian Indoor Rowing Championships, which concluded on Sunday in Bangkok.

The Pakistanis won one gold and three silver medals at the championship.

Living up to their potential, the Pakistan team won gold medal in the mix four event followed by India who grabbed silver. In the two-day indoor event featuring leading teams from across Asia, Pakistan rowers made the entire nation proud by clinching the gold.

According to the Pakistan Rowing Federation, in another event of heavy double sculls, Pakistan won silver medal.The country clinched silver also in para single scull event where single sculler Manzar Yaqoob performed extremely well and recorded his name in the history as it was the first-ever medal in this category for Pakistan.

In the light weight mix four event, Pakistan earned their third silver.

Rizwan-ul-Haq, the president of the Pakistan Rowing Federation, appreciated the rowers’ performance in the Bangkok competition, and congratulated the players, coaches and other team officials for their remarkable show in the continental championship.

Open weight four (relay) — gold medal: Maqbool Ali, Hamid Ali, Razia Hanif, Naila Bano

Open weight pair (men) — silver medal: Mirza Amjad Baig, Waliullah

PARA single (men) — silver medal: Manzar Khursheed

Light weight four (relay) — silver medal: Arif Jutt, Abdul Jabbar, Razia Hanif, Naila Bano.
