HYDERABAD, July 9: Eminent Sindhi writers, scholars, intellectuals and activists of the civil society have set up a foundation to supplement the efforts of Pakistan and Indian governments for the promotion of peace through Sindhi language and literature. At a meeting held here on Friday, the participants were unanimous that historic initiatives taken by the two governments must receive full support from the intelligentsia and the civil society for sustainable peace.
Indian Sindhi writers, who are on a visit to Sindh at invitation of the Sindh government, also attended the meeting.
The meeting believed that the Sindhi language and literature which have all along been a vehicle for the promotion of peace, tranquillity and universal brotherhood of which Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai was the greatest champion should be used for confidence building measures.
To promote the cause of peace and tranquillity in the subcontinent, the meeting formed “Foundation International for Sindhi Language and Literature”.
Noted writer Ibrahim Joyo, Indian Sindhi writers Hero Thakar, Hari Motwani and Nand Chugani, Prof Dr Ghulam Ali Allana, Hameed Sindhi, Yousuf Laghari, Wali Ram Walab, Adam Malik, Ishaq Mangrio and Taj Joyo attended the meeting.
