HARIPUR, July 9: The director of the Trade Organization, Islamabad, has declared the election of Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) as against the rules and ordered re-election within the next 30 days. The director also ordered constitution of two committees for screening the chamber’s constitution and voters’ list.
HCCI’s election for the offices of president, senior vice-president, vice-president and four executive council seats were held on Sept 5, 2004. Two of the losing candidates from the Business Forum, Sajid Mehmood and Farooq Shah, had challenged 72 out of the total 231 votes terming them fake and filed an appeal with the director of the Trade Organization.—Correspondent
