14 awarded civil awards

LAHORE: Governor Chaudhry Sarwar on Saturday conferred civil awards upon 14 personalities at Governor House in recognition of their services in different segments of society on behalf of the president.

Six people each were awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance while two were awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz.

The Sitara-i-Imtiaz was awarded to Dr Pervaiz Ahmad Chaudhry, retired Prof Muhammad Latif, Muhammad Imran Munir, Babara Shareef and Khwaja Masood Akhtar.

The Pride of Performance awards were given to Dr Ambreen Javed, Iftikhar Thakur, Bashir Ahmad Hasan, Nasir Adeeb, Muhammad Inam Butt and Muhammad Amanullah Khan.

The Tamgha-i-Imtiaz was awarded to Dr Mazhar Iqbal and Dr Shahbaz Alam.

LONGEST FLAG: The Lahore College for Women University and Pakistan Youth Council waved a 400-metre long and five-metre wide Pakistani flag at Governor House.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sarwar stressed the need for getting rid of corruption, bad governance and injustice for a guaranteed success.

The governor said the nation saluted the people who made sacrifices for Pakistan and defended their motherland.

“Kashmir is the pulse of Pakistan and Pakistanis will continue supporting the people of Kashmir in their peaceful struggle,” he added.

Led by Governor Sarwar and his wife Parveen Sarwar, the PYC members along with hundreds of people made the longest ever Pakistani flag at Governor House, breaking the previous record of 205 metre long Pakistani flag.
