Multan refuses to hold second phase matches

LAHORE, July 8: Multan District Football Association (MDFA) has refused to hold Group-I matches of the National Challenge Cup second phase at the Qasim Bagh Stadium, Multan.

A spokesman for the Pakistan Football Federation said on Friday MDFA had cited bad condition of the ground due to rainy season as the reason for not holding matches. He said MDFA considered it impossible to make the stadium ready till July 13.

A decision to select host city will be taken on Saturday with Faisalabad or Rawalpindi in the running. Some of the Group-II matches will be played in Karachi.
