SHEIKHUPURA, July 8: The district and sessions and other subordinate courts have started functioning in Nankana Sahib district. All the pending suits, criminal and civil, which falls in the jurisdiction of the new district have almost been transferred. Meanwhile, residents of Khanqah Dogran and other towns continued their protest against inclusion of their areas in Nankana Sahib.

They said Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had assured them that their areas would remain part of Sheikhupura. They said, however, no official notification had been issued so far.

The Safdarabad tehsil bachao committee chairman told journalists here that as the chief minister had failed to fulfil his promise, the people would continue their protest against the Punjab government till acceptance of their demand.
