DADU, July 8: A boy, Manzoor Babar, 15, committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in the Murad Babar village, Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka, on Thursday night. The father of the deceased, Khuda Bux Babbar, told police that three relatives had sexually assaulted the boy, forcing him to commit suicide. The Khairpur Nathan Shah police received the body and investigating.
ACE: The Anti-Corruption Establishment has arrested two sub-registrars and one tapedar on corruption charges.
A team of the ACE, led by circle officer Zakir Samoo, conducted a raid on offices of sub-registrar Dadu, Johi and Mukhtiarkar Dadu and arrested Hidayat Ali Khushik, Ghulam Mustafa Kalhoro and Mazhar Chandio.
The accused were remanded in police custody by the judicial magistrate, Dadu.
The circle officer said the three accused were arrested on charges of fraud and making changes in revenue records.
He said eight other FIRs had been registered against 12 officials of the revenue, education and police department on corruption charges.
ASIs Shiral Mallah, Barkat Ali and Siddique Mallah, assistant district officer (education), Abu Bakar, senior clerk of the education department, Javed Memon, senior clerk of the DCO office, Qamar Zaman Samejo, auditor of the zakat and usher chairman office, Akhtar Zaman Samejo, tapedar Fayaz Siyal, SDO irrigation Ali Mohammad Jamali, baildars Ghulam Rasool Kaboro, Khaliq Naich, sub-registrar Mehar, Umer Abbasi and tapedar Iqbal Birhamani were nominated in FIRs.
STRIKE: A shutter-down strike was observed in Khanoth and Manzoorabad towns of the Jamshoro district on Friday to protest against rising theft cases in the area.
All shops remained closed in the towns. The shopkeepers took out a procession.
Babu Mallah, Ghafoor Solangi and Seth Doulat Ram led the protesters.
They alleged thieves were barging into shops and houses and taking away cash and other valuables but police were not taking action against them.
