PESHAWAR, July 7: A man has been arrested for murdering a female relative and her daughter who were campaigning for women’s rights in the NWFP, police said Thursday. Accused Ali Zar told investigators that a local religious personality had incited him to murder Zubeda Begum, 40, and her daughter Shumyla, 17, for their ‘immoral’ association with NGO Aurat Foundation, district police officer Muhammad Ayub said.

Zubeda had died on the spot in the attack in upper Dir last Friday while her daughter had succumbed to injuries in hospital on Monday.

Ayub said four other suspects were being sought over the attack. He did not say how Ali Zar was related to the victims.
