KHAIRPUR, July 6: The president of the PPP Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, has called upon the Chief Election Commissioner to cancel transfers and posting of police and other officials in Sindh which have been ordered after announcement of schedule for local body elections. Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, he said there was increase in sugar, petrol and other consumer items prices while the government was claiming that poverty had been reduced.

He said 1988 and 1993 general elections were held by caretaker governments and people saw how the PPP won with margin.

He said the PPP or the ARD had not demanded elections under the army but were demanding fair and transparent elections.

He said former district nazim Nasir Shah had left the PPP a long time ago.

BREACH: After rains on Wednesday, the Sanhiro canal developed a 20-30 feet wide breach between RD-30 and 31.

Cotton crop, dates gardens and vegetables have been inundated in flood water.
