PML-N to challenge Mansehra by-poll results

MANSEHRA: The losing candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in PK-30 constituency, Mazhar Ali Qasim, has announced that it will challenge the results of the Tuesday by-election over ‘rigging’.

“I have tangible evidence of rigging in some polling stations and will produce them before the election tribunal to claim justice,” Mr Qasim told reporters in Balakot area on Thursday.

The PML-N nominee alleged that his rival and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf candidate, Ahmad Hussain Shah, used the government’s machinery to influence voters by announcing development schemes.

“I don’t accept the election results and will challenge them before the Election Commission of Pakistan after consulting lawyers,” he said.

The unofficial by-election results showed that PTI’s Ahmad Hussain Shah won the contest by securing 46,483 votes against 39,945 votes obtained by PML-N nominee Mazhar Ali Qasim.
