No Indian film to be released in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The association of film exhibitors has decided not to release Indian films in the country while the government has banned airing of advertisements made in India on television, said federal Information Fawad Chaudhry through a tweet on Tuesday.

The decisions have been made in the backdrop of violation of Pakistani airspace by Indian jets.

The minister said in his tweet that directives had been issued to the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority to take action against airing of made-in-India advertisements on news and entertainment channels.

The tweet by the minister said, ‘Cinema Exhibitors Association has boycotted Indian content, no Indian Movie will be released in Pakistan. Also have instructed PEMRA to act against Made in India Advertisements.”

Amid growing tensions between the two countries following a terrorist attack in Pulwama on Feb 14 that killed 45 Indian soldiers in occupied Kashmir, Pakistani artistes have been discouraged from performing in Bollywood films.
