GUJRANWALA, July 5: As many as eight lady teachers of elementary and secondary schools were dismissed from service by the district education officer on charges of absence from duty and other irregularities here on Tuesday. Reports said DEO Chaudhry Ikramul Haq visited various girls schools in and around the city and found these teachers absent from duty without any information. He also checked the record and found various irregularities. He issued them show-cause notices and later dismissed them from service.
PML SETUP DISSOLVED: The ruling PML’s district setup has been dissolved following division of the city tehsil council into four towns and district into three by the government.
The new office-bearers will be elected/nominated by the party leadership later.
This was said by PML District Information Secretary Atiq Yousaf Zia in a press release issued here on Tuesday.
SUICIDE: A jobless youth committed suicide in Baghbanpura here on Tuesday.
Reports said Imran quarrelled with his parents over pocket money and swallowed poison. He died on way to the civil hospital.
Doctors have handed over his body to his heirs after autopsy.
POLLS SCHEDULE: The deputy election commissioner on Tuesday announced the local bodies election schedule.
According to the schedule, election of union nazims, naib nazims, general, labour, minorities and women councillors will be held in the first phase while nomination papers of aspirants will be received from July 18 to 20.
The list of candidates will be published on 21st and objections will be received on July 22. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on July 23 and 24.
The last date for filing of appeals has been fixed July 25 and candidates can withdraw papers by 28th. The final list will be displayed on July 29. Polling will be held on Aug 18 and the result will be announced on Aug 20.
HEARING: The local anti-terrorism court No. 2 continued the hearing of murder case of PPP city president Chaudhry Khalid Humayun and summoned witnesses - ASI Munir Ahmad and FIA official Mubasher Ahmad - for evidence.
The court adjourned the case till July 11.
