HYDERABAD, July 5: Villagers blocked the Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas road for more than an hour on Sunday to protest against power breakdown in the Tajpur village near Tandojam for the last two days. Since the blockade disrupted the flow of traffic, causing inconvenience to commuters, the Tandojam TPO rushed to the spot and negotiated with the protesters.
The protesters, criticizing the Hesco for its poor performance, said they had made repeated complaints to Hesco authorities but in vain.
Hesco authorities did not clarify whether it was mere disruption of power supply or disconnection for some reasons.
Residents complained that erratic power supply in the area had become a daily routine and normal power supply a predicament. A villager wondered for how long Hesco authorities would keep resorting to suspend power supply in the name of maintenance work.
Another said that Hesco was quick in issuing inflated or detection bills but lethargic in rectifying faults or restoring power supply.
