UET Lahore hostel

THE sorry state of affairs at University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, is evident when it comes to the hostel allotment delays of many boarding students from far-flung areas of the country.

The university took the hostel dues from the postgraduate scholars at the start of the semester, but as the first semester is now about to end, they have still not been allotted rooms.

Not only this, the existing scholars are being expelled from the hostels after the completion of two years, although it can be extended to four years if the research work is not complete.

On protest, the scholars are being forced to stay in the already overcrowded rooms. Such is the condition of the crème de la crème of the country studying in the top-ranked premier engineering institute. Despite having all the financial resources, mismanagement is the hallmark of the university administration and no amount of repeated applications has moved it to redress the aforementioned grievances.

The higher authorities should take strict action against the responsible officials at the earliest.
