DADU, July 3: Farmers took out a procession in Khairpur Nathan Shah town on Sunday in protest against water shortage in Kudan and Pechuho Wahs and Kalro Shakh of the Rice canal.

Leaders of the Awami Tehrik, Taluka Abadgar Association, and Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan led the protesters.

They alleged officials of the irrigation department were supplying extra water at the head which was causing water shortage in tail-end areas.

They said even drinking water was not available in Ghozo, Mir Hassan, Jarwar, Jhando Gadhi, Chabhar Gadhi and Kandi Chakhi villages.

They called upon Sindh Irrigation Minister Nadir Akmal Leghari to ensure supply of water in the taluka.
