Rashid offers rail track up to Kartarpur border

NAROWAL/SIALKOT: The Pakistan government has offered India to construct a railway track from Kartarpur to Indian border.

The offer was made by Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid while inspecting the newly-constructed Narowal railway station.

Later on talking to the media, he said, “We are ready to construct railway track from Kartarpur to Indian border. I promise that after sometime we shall start rail car from Lahore, Narowal via Sialkot to Rawalpindi.”

Speaking about Nawaz Sharif, he said: “There is no need [for him] to go to London for the kidney stone and its treatment is available here.”

When the federal minister departed from Narowal, the management took away the flower pots from the railway station which were put there for decoration; chairs for passengers and walk-through gates were also removed.

Earlier, a band was played and rose petals were showered on the minister on his arrival.

At Sialkot railway station, the minister was accorded a warm welcome. Talking to the media along with Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Usman Dar, President PTI Central Punjab Umer Dar and others, he said the construction of a railway line would facilitate the Sikh community.

He said the government was making hectic efforts to improve the railway journey for the people across Pakistan, besides bringing railways out of financial crisis.

He announced the rehabilitation of passenger train and rail car on Lahore-Chawinda-Sialkot section within the next six months for providing improved railway journey services to the people.

Talking to the party workers at Sialkot, Rashid said it would be better for PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to apologise for his indecent comments about him.
