KARACHI, July 2: Pakistan No. 1 Shahid Zaman has been named as the eighth seed in the squash event of this month’s World Games to be held in the German city of Duisburg under the patronage Of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
According to details, Shahid has been placed in the upper half of the 16-man draw and would meet Tommy Berden of Holland in the first round of the men’s competition. The squash event of the World Games will be staged in Mulheim an der Ruhr, near Duisburg, from 16-19 July.
Shahid is seeded to meet world number one Thierry Lincou of France in the quarterfinals.
The 2005 World Games will feature 3,500 athletes from 100 nations.—PPI
