ISLAMABAD: As many as 11 officers, including a woman, of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), have been promoted to grade 21 (additional inspector general) from grade 20 (deputy inspector general).

The officers are: Helena Iqbal Saeed, Ghulam Sarwar Jamali Baloch, Karman Fazal, Inam Ghani, Dr Jamil Ahmed, retired Capt Usman Zakria, Ahmed Mukarram, Mohammad Akram Naeem Bharoka, Mohammad Farooq Mazhar, Asif Saifullah Paracha and Amjad Khan.

Ms Saeed is the first woman who has been elevated to the top position in the PSP. Currently, she is serving in the National Police Foundation (NPF) and on promotion she is transferred and posted as senior joint secretary Interior Division.

She got training from the National Police Academy in 19 Basic Course (23 Common Training Programme) during 1996-97.

Earlier, she also served in Islamabad as the SP traffic police and assistant inspector general besides working in the National Highways and Motorway Police.

Ghulam Sarwar Jamali Baloch, Kamran Fazal and Jamil Ahmed are serving with the government of Sindh and on promotion they would remain posted to the province until further orders, according to a notification.

Inam Ghani is serving in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and on promotion his services are placed at the disposal of the Punjab government.

Mr Zakria is serving in Frontier Constabulary (FC) and now his services are placed at the disposal of the Punjab government.

Mr Mukarram, who is serving in the FIA, is now transferred and his services are placed at the disposal of the Punjab government.

Mr Bharoka was serving with the government of Sindh and his services are now placed at the disposal of the government of Punjab.

Mr Mazhar and Mr Paracha are serving in IB and on promotions they will remain posted there.

Amjad Khan is transferred from the NPF and sent to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Moreover, 33 officers of PSP were also promoted to grade 20 (DIG) from grade 19 (senior superintendent of police), including the SSP Islamabad Waqaruddin Syed.

The officers are: Jawad Ahmed Dogar, Suleman Sultan Rana, Mazharul Haq Kakakhel, Khuram Shakoor, Yaseen Farooq Sheikh, Asif Aijaz Sheikh, Akbar Nasir Khan, Mujahid Akbar Khan, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Gauhar Nafeef, retired Capt Pervaiz Ahmed, Ahmad Jamalur Rehman, Fida Hussain Mastoi, Imran Ahmar, Mohammad Abid Khan, Imran Mahmood, Mohammad Kashif Mushtaq Kanjoo, Capt (retired) Atta Mohammad Atta, Mohammad Ahsan Younas, Dr Waqaruddin Syed, Tayyab Hafeez Cheema, Irfan Ali Baloch, Mohammad Zubair Dreshak, Sikandar Hayat, Afzaal Ahmad Kausar, Nasir Aftab, Munir Ahmad Sheikh, Gohar Mushtaq Bhutta, Omar Shahid Hamid, Mohammad Younas Chandio, Syed Fareed Ali, retired lieutenant Maqsood Ahmad and Rai Babar Saeed.
