KARACHI, June 29: The Pakistan-US joint naval exercises ‘Inspired Union 2005’ concluded on Wednesday in the north Arabian Sea. The week-long exercise was a combination of inspired siren and inspired response — two bilateral exercises — conducted annually between the US and Pakistan navies.
A number of surface, subsurface and air units from both the navies actively participated in the exercise, said a Pakistan Navy press release here.
Both forces operated in deep blue water, thereby staging a classical set for an actual threat environment.
Despite adverse weather conditions and severely rough sea during the entire period, every planned segment of the exercise was rehearsed. A conspicuous feature of the exercise was air operations from flight deck of the ships in heavy rolls and pitches.
The Inspired Siren, the sea phase of the exercise, focused on training in anti-submarine warfare, surface warfare, mine counter measures, air defence, electronic warfare, replenishment at sea and command and control.—APP
