CHITRAL, June 28: Suspension bridges, roads, wheat crop and fruit orchards in different parts of Chitral were washed away by floodwaters from rivers that had been flowing in high flood owing to a rapid melting of snow and glaciers in the mountains.

The summer resort of Garam Chashma is said to be the worst hit where the collapse of two suspension bridges cut off two villages from the rest of the district.

The road leading to Garam Chashma is also said to be cut off as it has been washed away at Roji by the river.

The rising water has inundated the Garam Chashma bazaar and people have been migrating to the places lying at high altitudes.

The valleys of Yarkhoon, Terich, Oveer, Laspur and Khot have also been hit by the flood. The rising height of Chitral river poses more threats to the communication system in the district.
