KASUR, June 26: Four alleged robbers were shot dead in two encounters in Kasur and Rahim Yar Khan during the last 36 hours. At Gehlan village near Pattoki, Kasur, two robbers were killed while three villagers injured in a shootout.
According to police, three armed men were looting cash and valuables from passersby near Chak No 9 when some of the victims called out villagers. Seeing a crowd, the robbers opened fire on it, injuring Allah Ditta, Muhammad Tariq and Muhammad Siddique.
Meanwhile, a team of the Pattoki Saddar police reached the troubled spot and an encounter followed. As a result, Shafiq and another robber died on the spot. However, their accomplice escaped.
Pattoki police are investigating.
MULTAN: Two alleged proclaimed offenders were killed few hours after they deprived a villager of gold jewellery and three others of motorcycles in riverine Zahir Peer area in Rahim Yar Khan, about 275 kilometres from here, late Saturday night.
Some 25 to 30 armed men entered the residence of Bashir at Basti Budhpur around 5:30pm on Saturday and took away gold ornaments worth Rs100,000.
Later, they drove away with three motorcycles of other people. On a tip-off, the Elite Force and police spotted the suspects in the identified area, Zahir Peer police station SHO Haji Aslam claimed.
He said an encounter took place between the law enforcers and the culprits, which claimed lives of Hazari Badhani and Jan Muhammad, proclaimed offenders. Their accomplices, however, fled taking advantage of darkness and left the ornaments behind.—APP
