NAWABSHAH, June 25: A complete strike was observed in Daulatpur town against Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) for unannounced load shedding and issuance of inflated bills, on Saturday. Hundreds of residents also protested outside the local press club. The protesters said that Hesco officials were continuing unannounced load shedding and were issuing inflated bills.
They demanded of the Hesco chief to take action against corrupt officials and provide relief to them.
HUNGER STRIKE: Gul Hassan Chandio, resident of the Shahmir Khan Chandio Village, observed a token hunger strike along with his family members outside the local press club for recovery of his daughter, here on Saturday.
He told newsmen that his daughter Mumtaz,19, was kidnapped by some influential people of the area more than two years back.
He said that he visited the police station for registration of FIR but in vain.
He further said that he and his wife were mentally disturbed and searching their daughter.
He said that he had no enmity with any one and had continuously reported the matter with the police but so far no formal FIR could be registered.
He demanded of the President Gen Musharraf and Premier Shaukat Aziz to provide justice to him and direct the police to help recover his daughter.
STRIKE: Activists of the Provincial Institute of Teachers Education (PITE) unit of the All Pakistan Clerks Association, Nawabshah, observed a pen down strike to press for the acceptance of their demands, here on Saturday.
The President APCA unit of PITE told newsmen that the director-general and the deputy director of the PITE were not solving their problems and even failed to accept their legal demands.
He said that the protest would continue till the acceptance of their demands.
