LAHORE, June 23: The General Dental Council (GDC), UK, has recognized the dental degree of the University of Health Sciences and allowed its graduates to apply for registration in Britain. According to the GDC office letter, temporary registration will be granted to the holder of a dental degree from the UHS, Pakistan, provided that his/her papers are in order and he/she has received an offer of employment in UK for a post approved by the council.
workshop: The University of Health Sciences’ medical education department on Thursday organized a one-day workshop on ‘writing multiple choice questions (MCQs)’.
Microbiology and immunology department head Prof Abdul Ghaffar conducted the workshop especially designed for faculty members of forensic medicine, community medicine, ophthalmology, operative dentistry and surgery of the affiliated medical and dental colleges.
Speaking on the occasion, UHS vice-chancellor Prof Malik Husain Mubashar said teachers’ training was as important as improvement in the examination system. He said the UHS in collaboration with the foreign universities had taken up the teachers’ training project to develop a critical mass of ‘master trainers.’
He said the master trainers would train the university’s medical faculty in teaching methodology and assessment.
Stating that the objective content in medical examinations was gradually increasing, he added, it was imperative to make the medical faculty aware of the modern developments in the subject of evaluation and assessment.
